Gibsons School provides a highly individualized learning program that gives all students a chance to start a fresh. Struggling learners, students with esteem needs, low memory and low cognition are given a chance using multisensory teaching and learning methods. Gibson school regularly assesses the students in speech pathology, audiology and other therapeutic assessment to establish the learning gaps and intervening challenges. The school caters for children with mild learning difficulties stemming from dyslexia, language disability math disability ADD, ADHD and mild behavioral challenges. We encourage children to move on to mainstream schooling program (inclusion programs) if they manage to overcome their initial learning challenge. The IEP meeting will make this decision with the parent.
The school has a warm, conducive learner-friendly environment embedded in the positive discipline philosophy. At Gibson all learners are happy. Every learner at Gibson finds their orbit from which they navigate to their happy learning.
Elementary/ Middle School/High School. Caters for the unique educational and social needs of students (5-23) years old with learning disabilities and mild mental handicaps. High School (14-23) years. The school serves students from diverse cultural, religious and economic backgrounds. The school provides individualized education plans for each child. Each of the senior students is enrolled in a comprehensive vocational training program that includes ICT, Power Mechanics, Electricity, Woodwork Ceramics, Cosmetology, Home Economics and Dressmaking. The students are then inducted into apprenticeships and real industrial attachments. Our vocational program is structured to include functional community based vocational training; work experiences with real job contingencies, training in independence, including adult living skills; and strategies for collaboration with adult services
The students are trained and prepared for transition into happy independent or semi-independent lives after school. Gibson’s School engages only qualified teachers artisans and peripatetic professionals. The students who take on academic programs will follow the CIE/GCE curriculum to their highest level of ability. The students will be exposed to a flexible regular standardized testing to assess their progression. Gibson’s school boasts of highly experienced language, mathematics and vocational program teachers. It has peripatetic and resident experts handling different skill areas. All teachers have thorough post- graduate trainings in special education and international curriculum experience of more than 5 years.
